How to cut an MP3

  1. Drop your audio file into the box (videos work too — you get their sound).
  2. Drag the blue handles on the waveform, or type the start and end times. Press Play selection to check.
  3. Tick Fade in / Fade out if you like, choose the format and click Cut & download.

Frequently asked questions

How do I cut a song?

Open it here, drag the start and end handles to the part you want, check it with Play selection, and click Cut & download.

Does cutting reduce quality?

When you cut an MP3 without fades and keep MP3 as the format, the audio is copied without re-encoding, so there is no quality loss. With fades or another format it is re-encoded at 192 kbps.

Can I make a ringtone?

Yes — cut up to 30 seconds and choose M4A for iPhone or MP3 for Android. The Ringtone maker page sets this up for you.

Are my files uploaded?

No. FileCrafty processes video and audio inside your browser using your device’s own media engine, so nothing is uploaded — it even works offline once the page has loaded.
