About XML and CSV

XML is a tag-based format used by feeds, invoices, sitemaps and many older business systems.

CSV is a plain-text table where values are separated by commas (or semicolons). Every spreadsheet and database can import it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert XML to CSV?

Paste your XML data into the Input box or open a file. The CSV result appears instantly on the right — copy it or click Download.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. FileCrafty converts the data inside your browser, so customer lists, exports and API keys never leave your device. It also works offline once the page is open.

How is nested data turned into columns?

Nested objects become columns with dotted names such as address.city, and simple lists are joined with “; ”. If the records are inside a property (for example {"data": [...]}), that list is found automatically.

Accented letters look wrong when I open the CSV in Excel. What can I do?

Turn on “Excel-friendly encoding (UTF-8 BOM)” in Settings. Excel then reads letters such as ą, é or ü correctly. In many European countries, also choose the semicolon separator.

How are XML attributes and repeated elements handled?

Attributes become keys starting with “@”, element text next to child elements becomes “#text”, and elements that repeat (such as several <book> items) become a list. The same rules are used in reverse when creating XML.

Is there a size limit?

There is no fixed limit — files of tens of megabytes work fine on a computer. Very large files are not shown in the text box, but they are still converted in full.

Is it free?

Yes — free, unlimited and without sign-up.
