Frequently asked questions

How do I edit a PDF for free?

Open your PDF above, pick a tool such as Text, Sign or Highlight, click on the page, and download the result. Everything is free and happens in your browser.

Can I change the existing text in my PDF?

Not yet. You can add new text anywhere, and use Whiteout to cover old text and type over it. Editing the original text directly is coming later.

Is it safe? Are my PDFs uploaded?

No upload at all. FileCrafty opens and edits the PDF inside your browser, so contracts, IDs and bank statements never leave your device. The fonts are served by FileCrafty, too — no third-party requests.

Does Whiteout really remove the text underneath?

Whiteout covers content visually, which is fine for forms and printing. The original text may still be in the file and can be copied out, so it is not a secure redaction for confidential data.

Can I reorder, rotate or delete pages?

Yes. Drag thumbnails to reorder, use the rotate and delete buttons on each thumbnail, or insert a blank page. Deleted pages are removed from the file completely.

Is it really free? Are there watermarks?

Yes, it is free with no sign-up, no page limits and no watermark on your PDF.

Does it work on a phone or tablet?

Yes. It works in Safari, Chrome and other modern mobile browsers. Tap Focus for a full-screen editor, use Pages to reorder pages, and sign with your finger.
