Frequently asked questions

How do I type on a PDF?

Open the PDF here, click on the page with the Text tool and start typing. Download the PDF when you are done — the text is saved as real, selectable text.

Which fonts can I use?

Roboto, Open Sans, Montserrat, Lora, Playfair Display, Roboto Mono and three handwriting fonts (Caveat, Dancing Script, Great Vibes). They support accented Latin letters and, for most of them, Cyrillic.

Can I edit text that is already in the PDF?

Not yet. To replace a word, cover it with Whiteout and type the new text on top.

Is it safe? Are my PDFs uploaded?

No upload at all. FileCrafty opens and edits the PDF inside your browser, so contracts, IDs and bank statements never leave your device. The fonts are served by FileCrafty, too — no third-party requests.

Is it really free? Are there watermarks?

Yes, it is free with no sign-up, no page limits and no watermark on your PDF.

Does it work on a phone or tablet?

Yes. It works in Safari, Chrome and other modern mobile browsers. Tap Focus for a full-screen editor, use Pages to reorder pages, and sign with your finger.
