    How to record your screen

    1. Choose whether to include your microphone and the system or tab sound.
    2. Click Start recording and pick the screen, window or tab to share.
    3. Click Stop (or “Stop sharing” in the browser bar), watch the result and download it.

    Frequently asked questions

    Is there a time limit or watermark?

    No time limit and no watermark. Long recordings simply take more memory, so save them when you are done.

    Why can’t I record system sound?

    Browsers can share sound only from a browser tab (all browsers) or the whole screen on Windows and ChromeOS. On macOS, share a tab to include its sound, or turn on the microphone.

    What format is the recording?

    MP4 in browsers that support it (recent Chrome, Edge, Safari), otherwise WebM. Click “Save as MP4” to convert a WebM recording.

    Does it work on phones?

    No — mobile browsers don’t allow screen recording. Use your phone’s built-in screen recorder instead.

    Are my files uploaded?

    No. FileCrafty processes video and audio inside your browser using your device’s own media engine, so nothing is uploaded — it even works offline once the page has loaded.
